Team Principal of A1 Team GBR, Katie Clements, got the chance to ‘KICK UP AGEAR®’ by climbing over the pit wall to take to the track herself and see first hand the experience of life with the helmet visor down.
Katie was participating in the event for Airwaves chewing gum as part of her role as an Airwaves Pro ambassador, an initiative that aims to inspire and empower people to ‘KICK UP A GEAR®’ and enable consumers to ‘live their dream’.
This time it was the turn of the A1 Team GBR chief to challenge her-self as she got behind the wheel to witness first hand the demands experienced by her roster of British drivers.
Katie first stepped into a Ford Focus in order to receive professional instruction on lapping the famous Castle Combe circuit, before going it alone in a Formula Ford single seater racecar. Katie finished by really challenging herself as she let loose to complete a flying lap of the circuit.
Katie Clements said: “The A1GP World Cup of Motorsport has thrown up some unique challenges for me, including some things I never thought I’d achieve. Today is what the Airwaves Pro campaign is all about and I’m so grateful to everyone involved who has enabled me to do this. Given my role it has also provided a superb opportunity to gain an insight into the demands our drivers are under on race days, and that can only be beneficialduring an exciting season.”
Toby Baker, Wrigley Marketing Director added:“We’d like to thank Katie and everyone at the Castle Combe circuit for taking the time out to help Katie ‘KICK UP A GEAR®’ and complete her challenge. She works in an adrenaline and high octane fuelled environment, and I’m delighted she enjoyed the experience somuch.”
The Airwaves® Pro initiative is supported by a number of top motorsport professionals – World Rally Championship driver Matthew Wilson, A1 Team GBR Principal Katie Clements and Airwaves Ducati British Superbike riders Shane Byrne and Leon Camier.
