A1GP officials have confirmed that they are in negotiations to add a Brazilian race to this season’s calendar, but have denied that an agreement has already been sealed.

While the race has been handed a provisional date of May 17, A1GP has stated that it is yet to receive official approval from the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

“We are hoping to have a race there, but I have to be completely honest and say that when you apply for a race you have to go via the FIA and then they put it on the calendar,” a spokesperson for A1GP told PA Sport.

“We are hoping that this is something that we can announce in the near future, but we want to announce the whole package rather than just put a date in there.”
