Jonny Reid believes the New Zealand A1GP team needs to settle on a first choice driver.
Wanganui teenager Earl Bamber will be behind the wheel of Black Beauty for next weekend’s round of the World Cup of Motorsport in South Africa. Bamber has so far interchanged with Chris van der Drift in the first four rounds this season, with van der Drift having an unhappy time of it in the last round at Taupo.
Reid was also considered for the drive and while he is not upset that he still has not been given a chance to race for the team this season, he says the constant driver changes are hurting the team.
Reid says he was not given any promises about racing in South Africa after testing at Taupo last month. However, he says the team needs more consistency in the driver line-up as it will help the engineers get the car to the right level.
Reid is still hopeful of driving for the New Zealand A1GP team later this season and is currently pursuing single-seater opportunities in the United States and Europe as well as looking at the possibility of a drive in the V8 Supercar series.
