The signage of “Autobau” will be adjourning the race car of A1 GP Team Switzerland. “Autobau” is the new motoring experience in Romanshorn at Lake Constance in Switzerland, which will be officially opened on April 16th.

At the former oil tanking area of Romanshorn, a unique collection of motor cars from various eras will be on display, particularly including race cars. “Autobau” is to become a meeting point for motoring and motor racing enthusiasts and will also serve as a venue for congresses, seminars, social and cultural events. Services include a variety of culinary offerings. Later on, the premises will also become the venue for smaller companies from the areas of research and development and innovation.

The man behind the project is Fredy Lienhard, the owner of the globally known office equipment manufacturer Lienhard Office Group from Degersheim in the east of Switzerland. With “Autobau”, Lienhard made a dream of many years come true. “I wanted to make a positive mark as an entrepreneur in the region of Eastern Switzerland, economically, socially and sportingly”, said the 61-year old from Appenzell.

For many years, Fredy Lienhard has been backing motor racing in Switzerland, a sport to which he still feels committed even after having ended his own long-standing and successful career as a driver. Fredy Lienhard feels strongly about a determined young drivers’ support programme, ranging from soap-box racing through go-karts, Formula Lista and Formula Renault at a national level up to motor racing at world level. By backing the Swiss national motor racing team, competing in the World Cup of Motorsport, he is rounding off his commitment at the highest level.

Among the many beneficiaries of the generosity of the Swiss entrepreneur are also three current drivers of the A1GP Team Switzerland: Neel Jani, Alexandre Imperatori and Rahel Frey. Lienhard has provided them with the opportunity to get started in motor racing and pursue their careers in the sport. Max Welti, team principal of the A1GP Team Switzerland, really appreciates the latest effort by his long-standing companion: “I am impressed by Fredy Lienhard’s philosophy of not only being committed to Swiss motorsport on behalf of his company, but also personally. Auf dem Rennwagen des Schweizer A1GP-Teams wird künftig der Schriftzug “Autobau” prangen. Autobau, eine einzigartige Auto-Erlebniswelt in Romanshorn am Bodensee, wird am 16. April offiziell eröffnet.

Auf dem ehemaligen Romanshorner Tanklager-Areal wird eine einmalige Kollektion von Autos aus verschiedenen Perioden präsentiert, insbesondere auch Rennfahrzeuge. “Autobau” soll zur Begegnungsstätte für Auto- und Rennsport-Begeisterte werden und darüber hinaus als Ort für Tagungen, Seminare, Vereinsanlässe und kulturelle Events dienen. Dazu gehört ein gepflegtes kulinarisches Angebot. Mittelfristig sollen auf dem Gelände kleinere Unternehmen aus der Motorfahrzeugbranche in den Bereichen Forschung, Entwicklung und Innovation angesiedelt werden.

Hinter dem Projekt steht Fredy Lienhard, der Patron des weltweit bekannten Ostschweizer Büromöbel-Herstellers Lienhard Office Group aus Degersheim SG. Mit dem “Autobau” hat Lienhard eine langjährige Vision realisiert. “Ich wollte damit als Unternehmer in der Region Ostschweiz ein positives Zeichen setzen — wirtschaftlich, gesellschaftlich und sportlich”, erklärte der 61-jährige Appenzeller.

Fredy Lienhard tritt seit vielen Jahren als Förderer des Schweizer Rennsports auf, dem er sich nach dem kürzlichen Abschluss seiner eigenen, überaus langen und erfolgreichen Aktivkarriere weiterhin verbunden fühlt. Eine umfassende Nachwuchsförderung, logisch aufgebaut von der Seifenkiste über Kart, die Formeln Lista und Renault im nationalen Bereich bis hin zum globalen Rennsport liegt Fredy Lienhard am Herzen. Mit der Unterstützung des Schweizer Nationalteams im Nationen-Weltcup des Motorsports rundet er nun sein Engagement nach oben ab.

Zu den vielen Nutzniessern der Grosszügigkeit des Ostschweizer Unternehmers gehören auch drei aktuelle Fahrer des Schweizer A1-Teams — Neel Jani, Alexandre Imperatori und Rahel Frey. Auch ihnen hat Lienhard den Einstieg in den Rennsport und den Aufbau ihrer Karriere ermöglicht. A l’avenir, un nouveau logo, celui de “Autobau”, apparaîtra sur la voiture de course du A1GP-Team Switzerland. “Autobau”, un parc d’attraction unique pour fous du volant, sera officiellement inauguré le 16 avril prochain à Romanshorn au bord du lac de Constance.

Une collection extraordinaire de voitures de différentes périodes, en particulier aussi des voitures de course, sera présentée sur l’ancien dépôt de réservoirs à essence à Romanshorn. “Autobau” servira de lieu de rencontre aux amateurs de voitures et de fans du sport automobile. En plus, on pourra y organiser des conférences, des séminaires, des réunions de sociétés et d’autres évènements culturels, sans oublier une gastronomie soignée. A moyen terme, des petites entreprises de la branche automobile dans le domaine de la recherche, du développement et de l’innovation seront les bienvenus sur ce même périmètre.

C’est Fredy Lienhard, le patron de la fabrique de mobilier de bureau Lienhard Office Group mondialement connu et domicilé à Degersheim SG, qui est à l’origine de ce projet. Avec “Autobau”, Lienhard a réalisé un rêve de longue date. “Comme entrepreneur en Suisse orientale, je voulais ainsi laisser une empreinte – aussi bien économique que sociale et sportive”, a déclaré l’Appenzellois de 61 ans.

Fredy Lienhard se propose depuis de nombreuses années comme mécène du sport automobile suisse. Il s’y sent toujours lié après avoir conclu sa propre longue carrière active ponctuée de succès. Fredy Lienhard tient à coeur de promouvoir une relève logiquement structurée, allant de la caisse à savon, au kart, en passant par les formules Lista et Renault dans le domaine national jusqu’au sport de course global. Avec le soutien de l’équipe nationale suisse dans la coupe du monde du sport motorisé, il couronne ainsi son engagement.

Font partie des bénéficiaires de la générosité de l’entrepreneur de suisse orientale trois pilotes actuels de l’équipe suisse A1, soit Neel Jani, Alexandre Imperatori et Rahel Frey. A eux aussi, Lienhard a donné la possibilité de commencer et de développer leur carrière dans la course automobile.
