It is being reported on the official A1GP website that Michael Ammermuller can’t wait to get into A1Team Germany car this weekend and return to racing. A1Team.GER, now under new management, were the season two champions and are making their first entry into season four at Kyalami, South Africa.
Ammermuller said “Rolf [Beisswanger - Germany Seat Holder] and I have been in contact the whole time and he has tried to get the team back on the grid as soon as possible,”
“Now we are here and I am very happy because the new A1GP car looks a lot better than last year’s. It will be very interesting for a driver to race with this car, and also the new tracks this season means that A1GP is something special. It is not the same as racing in Europe with Formula 3 or something, this is a lot more fun to me.”
“It will be quite a difficult learning curve; we will see when we get the car ready. I will need to get used to the car but we will have enough time to learn how it works. If we are lucky and get the right set up we can do a good job.”
“We don’t have any pressure on us because we are not fighting for the championship; it is very difficult to get in to the season when you start from the middle. This weekend will be difficult for us to fight for the win. We’ll see how it goes and then we can improve every race, so the target will be to get better every race weekend and at the end of the season be on the podium.”
Commenting on starting back at a new circuit, Kyalami, “Yes, sure it helps a lot, because we have no experience and if we are at a track we had raced at before, all the other teams would all have telemetry data to start from. We are starting from zero and all the other teams start from zero on this track, so this makes it a lot easier for us.”
For the rest of the season Ammermuller is sharing driving duties with Andre Lotterer.
