China’s A1GP Racing Team will be sponsored by Export-Import Bank of China for the fourth year running after agreeing an extension to their ongoing deal. The team, which is 17th in the A1GP standings, will carry the sponsor’s logo on the side of the car’s chassis.
Liu Yu, the head of the Chinese team, was recently voted one of the ten most influential businessmen in China. He has worked hard to promote the sport in a country that has a limited motorsport pedigree. The team markets itself more than any other A1GP team as a team for the nation.
“It is perfect because people were dreaming of having a car in China 25 or 30 years ago and now some of them have a car, but they are still dreaming of moving from a small car to a BMW or Mercedes or Ferrari. But now we have the national team driving a Ferrari car and I think we will have more fans in a short time,“ said Liu.
