It is being reported on the official A1GP website that A1Team.BRA car will be repaired in time for tomorrow’s two races.
Felipe Guimaraes: “I simply carried too much speed into the Esses,” the 17-year-old said “This pushed me a little off the line, then I lost the rear of the car and couldn’t get it back under control again.”
The impact ripped off the rear wing, bent the right rear corner and damaged the majority of the rear bodywork
“I was so upset about crashing,” Guimaraes continued. “I had run on old tyres in first and second qualifying, ending up 14th on the grid for the Sprint race, but more importantly saving my new sets of tyres for the third and fourth segments. My third lap put me fifth, but when I went for the PowerBoost in Q4 I was flying. I was 0.6 seconds faster in the first sector alone, then was 10kph faster than before into the Esses… And the rest you saw.”
