A1 Team USA driver Marco Andretti turned a best-lap time of 1 minute, 29.487 seconds to grab the 13th starting position for tomorrow’s A1GP World Cup of Motorsport Feature race in Gauteng, South Africa.

The 21-year old Andretti will start 17th in the Sprint race, which will be run prior to the Feature.

The Netherlands (Sprint) and Monaco (Feature) split the pole positions for round 5 of the 2008-09 A1GP schedule.

Tomorrow’s Go-GP.Org A1GP Gauteng Sprint race begins at 4 a.m. (EST) with the Feature race starting at 8 a.m. (EST).

Marco Andretti, Andretti Green A1, A1 Team USA:
“For us, not being able to get on track at all on Friday put us behind, for sure, especially when we’re still trying to close the gap on the experienced teams that know these cars better than we do. We still have a lot to learn about how to find the speed we need in this package.

“We’ll just have to take what we’ve got and try to run two smart races tomorrow.”
