AUS Algarve Preview

As the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport begins to arrive into the Algarve in Portugal, A1 Team Australia has their own lead driver in class this Friday. John Martin accompanied by Ash Edwards will attend the A1 Simulator in Italy for several hours to learn the new track before his first track walk on 10 April.

The only way an A1GP driver can learn any circuit on the A1GP calendar is without any motorized assistance. You can skate, roller blade, cycle or walk, always with your engineers so you’re all on the same page before practice on Friday.

Alan Jones A1 Team Australia Seatholder has viewed the track from the latest testing sessions with the F1 teams to formulate some new session strategies.

“We have a lot of confidence in John and the Crew to bring home a podium as you are all on the traditional A1GP level playing field where nobody has raced before. This appears to be a good circuit to race on and the Portuguese group responsible for the Motorsport Park appear to have completed a spectacular venue to cater for motorsport and other related circuit activities. The full length swimming pool behind the team garages could be a fun place to observe some team members taking a quick swim before breakfast or after dinner”.

Team Manager Adam Gotch was impressed with John Martin’s progress last time out and is looking forward to the next event at a new circuit on the A1GP calendar, Algarve Motor Park in Portugal.

“John’s progress last time out shows he is really a contender now. He narrowly missed out on pole position and a podium in the last feature race and is showing he can take the fight to the more established stars of A1GP. The next event will see a new circuit on the calendar which will even up the playing field yet again. This will particularly favor John as he generally learns new circuits quicker than his rivals. The whole team is excited about the prospect of another competitive outing and after such a long break between events they’re eager to get back into action in southern Europe. After the disappointment of the last event, anything less than a podium this time around will be a disappointment!”

On Fox Sports live and Channel 9 delayed.
