Filipe Albuquerque would fought boldly throughout the entire weekend, but would not be able to do better than finishing both races in 5th place, mainly due to pace problems with which the team struggled throughout the entire weekend.
With these results, Portugal would end the Championship 3rd, behind Switzerland and this season title winner, Ireland. In the end, Filipe revealed himself to be a bit disappointed: “This was clearly not the outcome that we were expecting, but it was the one possible. We suffered throughout the weekend with pace limitations and the same ended up happening in the races, although I did my best to impose a strong rhythm. I was not able to do better than 5th on both races, which leaves me a bit frustrated, since at a certain point, I managed to get really close to Switzerland during the Feature Race, but this circuit is definitely not overtaking friendly”, he mentioned.
With today’s results, the young driver from Coimbra managed to secure 3rd place in the overall standings of this season A1GP World Cup of Motorsport: “We had the chance to do better than this, but the forced anticipation of the season finale did not help. We did the best we could. Being in the title contending battle till the end clearly reveals the teams potential. I believe we can consider it to be a pretty good result, since this was basically my first entire season at the helm of the new A1GP Powered by Ferrari single-seater”, Filipe concluded.
