Talking to the official A1GP website from Indianapolis, Season 3 A1GP World Champion, Neel Jani has given the move from Zandvoort to Assen, in 2010, a big thumbs up.

“It’s very quick, very modern and a great place for A1GP to go”.

“It’s a nice facility. It’s not bumpy at all and very flowing. But it’s going to be hard to overtake, because there are not many obvious places and it is wide”.

“The fans are going to love it and we’re going to have a lot of support. We had a lot of spectators for Champ Car and you can see a lot of the track from most of the grandstands”.

“The drivers love it too, it’s a flowing circuit and there are some real quick corners. There is a quick left hander at Turn 17 – in Champ Car we were taking it at 300km/hr. It then goes into a big breaking zone. You will need a smooth driving style, kind of similar that you might have in Sepang.”

“I’m not sure how easy it will be to follow each other through some of the high-speed sections, but then I never thought we would be able to follow each other as close as we did in Algarve, and look at the overtaking we had there. So it could be possible”.

“I’ll be sad to miss Zandvoort, but it wasn’t a great place for overtaking either so I don’t think we’ve lost in that regard.”

Tickets for the A1GP Assen, Netherlands will go on sale within the next month.
