Force India has released Giancarlo Fisichella to drive for Ferrari for the rest of this Formula One season. Fisichella will take over from Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer, who has not been competitive in two Formula One races since Felipe Massa was injured in July.
The next Formula One race will be held at Monza in Italy on Sept. 13.
Fisichella is in the unusual position of finishing second in one race and driving for the team that beat him in the next event.
Meanwhile, there was no confirmation as to who will replace Fisichella at Force India for the next F1 race at Monza, but the team’s third driver, Tonio Liuzzi, is expected to take the seat. The Italian has raced in A1GP this year, putting the A1Team Italy car on pole position at Algarve [Portugal] and finishing 4th, and also has been active in the simulator.
